Protecting one billion people from cyber threats? If you find this proposition more exciting than scary, come on board and grow with us.
Whalebone is a global company working on user-centric cybersecurity products for telcos, ISPs, enterprises, public institutions, and governments that provide millions of everyday internet users unyielding protection from malware, phishing schemes, ransomware, and other malicious digital attacks without the need for them to download anything. Whalebone is headquartered in Brno, Czech Republic.
At this point, Whalebone has 400+ customers in telecommunications and corporate sectors (A1, O2 Telefonica, Tele2, Panasonic, Bauhaus, and many others) around the globe. With around 160 team members of multiple nationalities, Whalebone ranked 22nd in Deloitte's list of fastest-growing companies in Central Europe.
Now we’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager to help us turn everything we know about our products, customers, markets and competitors into a clear commercial story that works globally.
The Role
This isn't a PMM role where you'll spend your days creating launch decks and writing feature announcements.
You would sit at the intersection of Product, Sales, Customer Success, Growth and the market.
Your job will be to understand what customers actually care about, identify what makes Whalebone valuable, and turn those insights into positioning, messaging, sales tools and product launch strategies that help our commercial teams win.
Become the person who connects the dots.
You'll listen to Account Managers and Customer Success teams. You'll dig into CRM data, customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and market trends. You'll work closely with Product to understand what we're building and why.
Then you turn all of that into a clear answer to one important question:
Why should a customer choose Whalebone?
This is a new strategic role, so you will also have the opportunity to help define what great Product Marketing looks like at Whalebone as we continue to grow internationally.
What you will actually do
Understand the market and our customers
- Talk regularly with Sales, Customer Success, Product Experience, Growth and Product teams to understand customer needs, objections, buying criteria, and market trends.
- Bring structure to feedback coming from different regions and customer-facing teams.
- Use CRM data, customer insights, competitive intelligence and market research to identify patterns and opportunities.
- Challenge assumptions and validate our messaging with evidence rather than guesswork.
Build our commercial story
- Develop clear positioning and value propositions for our products and solutions.
- Translate complex cybersecurity capabilities into simple, compelling customer benefits.
- Create messaging frameworks and briefs that give regional and commercial teams a consistent story to work with.
- Identify which messages resonate with different customer segments, markets and use cases.
Give commercial teams what they need to win
- Build practical tools such as battlecards, pitch narratives, value propositions and playbooks.
- Partner with Sales Enablement, Growth, Marketing and regional teams to make sure the strategy actually gets used.
- Turn real-world deal insights into better messaging and sales materials.
- Continuously improve our commercial story based on what is happening in the market.
Make product launches commercially successful
- Work with Product and Sales to plan global product launches.
- Define the positioning, messaging, audiences and key commercial narratives for new products and features.
- Create feedback loops after launches and use market response to improve the story.
- Help keep our positioning consistent while allowing regional teams to adapt it to their markets.
Help build Product Marketing at Whalebone
- Establish and improve PMM processes, frameworks and ways of working.
- Create a scalable approach to positioning, messaging, launches and market intelligence.
- Help shape the PMM function as Whalebone expands globally.
- Work closely with leadership and have a visible impact on how we take our products to market.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is curious, commercially minded, structured and great at connecting dots.
You might already be a Product Marketing Manager. Or you might be coming from another marketing, strategy, commercial, research, or product-related role where you've developed the same skills.
What matters most is how you think.
You are a strong fit if you:
- Connect people and information. You enjoy talking to different teams, understanding their perspectives and turning scattered input into a clear picture.
- Think commercially. You care about what makes customers buy, what makes deals move forward, and how marketing can contribute to business results.
- Love getting to the “why.” You ask good questions and don't settle for surface-level answers.
- Can simplify complexity. You can take a complicated product or technical concept and explain why it matters in language a customer actually understands.
- Use evidence. You are comfortable working with CRM data, customer feedback, research and market intelligence to support your decisions.
- Bring structure. You can take a messy problem, create a framework and turn it into something other people can actually use.
- Work well across functions. You can challenge Sales, collaborate with Product, listen to Customer Success and still keep everyone moving toward the same goal.
- Take ownership. You don't need a perfectly defined playbook before getting started.
The cybersecurity experience would be beneficial but it is not mandatory. If you're a great marketer who is curious about technology, understands customers and knows how to turn insight into a compelling commercial story, we'd love to meet you.
Your success and impact will be measured by how much better we understand our market and how effectively that understanding helps Whalebone grow.
