About T-Labs T-Labs, Deutsche Telekom’s research and innovation unit, investigates technologies redefining the role of networks. Future networks will perceive, interact with and orchestrate the physical world. We seek a visionary research leader for our next-generation network capabilities research area.
Your mission As Research Area Lead – Network Capabilities, you will drive research into how networks evolve from communication infrastructures into intelligent capability platforms. You will focus on emerging areas such as:
- Network sensing
- Physical AI
- Digital identities and trust infrastructures
- Distributed intelligence
- Cyber-physical systems
- Context-aware and autonomous networks
- Real-time orchestration of physical environments
You will define and drive the research agenda, develop and validate new capability concepts through experimentation and collaborate to shape their integration into future telecom architectures. You will explore how future telecom systems can enable new forms of interaction between humans, machines, AI systems and the physical world.
Your responsibilities
- Define and lead the research agenda for future network capabilities.
- Investigate emerging paradigms at the intersection of networks, AI, sensing and physical systems.
- Develop and validate new concepts through experimentation and prototypes.
- Drive strategic research collaborations with academia, industry and partners.
- Identify technology trends and assess their relevance for future telecom architectures.
- Translate research into strategic insights and future platform capabilities.
- Represent Deutsche Telekom in relevant technology communities.
- Contribute to publications, intellectual property and thought leadership.
- Help shape Deutsche Telekom’s long-term vision for intelligent and adaptive networks.
What you bring
- Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in computer science, AI, telecommunications, robotics, systems engineering or related disciplines.
- Strong expertise in several of the following areas:
- Network architectures
- Distributed AI systems
- Physical AI
- Sensing technologies
- Cyber-physical systems
- Digital identity and trust systems
- Autonomous systems
- Edge intelligence
- Ability to think systemically and across domains.
- Experience in applied research, experimentation or advanced technology strategy.
- Strong collaboration and ecosystem-building capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Passion for future technologies and transformative infrastructure concepts.
